What’s in a Name?

Prompt: If you could rename yourself, what name would you choose and why?

Respond to the Prompt:

  • Think about the question, “If you could rename yourself, what name would you choose and why?”
  • Write a thoughtful comment explaining the name you would choose for yourself and your reasons.
  • Make sure your response is at least three sentences long and includes specific details or examples to explain your choice.

Reply to Your Classmates:

  • After posting your response, read at least three of your classmates’ comments.
  • Suggest a different name for each classmate that you think fits their personality. Be creative and thoughtful in your suggestions, and explain why you chose that name.
  • Use respectful and constructive language to add to the conversation.

Comment Guidelines:

  • Your response to the prompt should fully answer the question, include details or examples, and be at least three sentences long.
  • When suggesting names for your classmates, explain your reasoning clearly and connect your suggestions to what you know about them.
  • Use these sentence frames to guide your replies:
    • “I think the name ___ fits you because ___. It reminds me of ___, which seems like a part of your personality.”
    • “Your explanation for choosing ___ was interesting. Have you considered the name ___? I think it fits because ___.”
    • “I like your choice of ___. Another name that came to mind for you is ___ because ___.”

  1. If I would be able to change my name to anything I would choose Adrian. The reason why I would choose Adrian is because I don’t hear a lot of Adrian’s around me. I personally think that this is a very unique name.

  2. If I wouldn’t name myself Valentina. I would name myself Valentina because there’s a hot sauce called Valentina and it’s my favorite hot sauce to put on everything like chips or fruit.

  3. I would change my name to Adrian, because my second name is Adrian, but my first name is Kevin, I like Adrian more.

    It would be Celeste de la Luz.
    I don’t know if it would be weird to be able to change my name, but I would change it because it would be a little different if they called me by my old name and it would be nicer.

  6. If I can change my name to junior. Why I would choose this to be my name is because I feel like the name would suit me. I would like that to be my name cause it seems like a cool name for me to have.

  7. If I had the chance to rename myself my name would be Alejandra Aretzy . I would choose that name because my grandma always wanted that to be my name before she passed away.

  8. If I could change my name, I would probably change my name to Khalena. Because I find the meaning of the name really cute, it means pure, and I find the name its self really pretty.
