Finish the Story

Instructions:
Read the beginning of the story below and then continue writing it. Make sure your story has an interesting twist, includes dialogue, and wraps up with a creative ending. You can be funny, mysterious, or adventurous — it’s up to you! Write at least two paragraphs to complete the story.

Story Starter:
You were sitting in the back of the classroom, half-listening to the lesson while scrolling on your phone under the desk. A new notification popped up. But this one wasn’t from a friend, a game, or even a teacher’s reminder—it was from an unknown number.

“You have 10 minutes to get to Room 113 before it’s too late.”

You stared at the message, confused. Room 113? That room had been empty all year. Maybe it was a prank. You showed your friend next to you, and their eyes widened.

“Dude,” they whispered. “I just got the same text.”

Before you could respond, the classroom lights flickered. Then, for just a second, every phone in the room buzzed at the same time. But when you checked again, the message had disappeared.

Now, it’s your turn:

  • What happens next?
  • Who sent the message?
  • What (or who) is waiting in Room 113?
  • Do you and your friend go check it out or ignore it?

Use your imagination to finish the story in a way that will surprise your classmates!
