Ava Chen never liked standing out, but this week she was forced into making tough choices at school she never expected to face. She usually stayed quiet, kept her grades up, and avoided drama. But when she opened her locker and found a folded note that said, “Don’t tell anyone what you saw in the gym yesterday,” everything changed.
Ava froze. Yesterday, she’d seen a few students messing with a teacher’s laptop after school. They hadn’t noticed her—but someone clearly knew she’d seen them. Now she couldn’t stop thinking about it. If she told, she might lose friends. If she stayed quiet, her teacher could get blamed.
That night, Ava tried to focus on homework, but her mind kept spinning. She realized that making tough choices at school isn’t always about tests or projects. Sometimes, it’s about doing what’s right when it’s hard. The next morning, as she walked down the hall, she saw one of the boys from the gym staring at her. Then her teacher, Ms. Rivera, said, “Ava, can I see you after class?” Her heart dropped.

Write a paragraph (at least 5 sentences) explaining what you would do if you were Ava.
Would you tell the truth, even if it meant getting others in trouble—or stay quiet to protect yourself?
Explain your reasoning and what you think might happen next.

If I were Ava I would choose to stay quiet and mind my own buisness, I would choose to do this instead becasue you never know what the other person can do or would choose to do and since there in multiple people involved it can only makes things worse if I snitch and they find out it was me. Even if the teacher asks he after class to ask if I’ve seen anything i would make an excuse to not get introuble.
I would tell the teacher. Someone’s source of income is more important than losing friends. I would tell the teacher because they could get fired and lose their job if their teacher got blamed. Their job is to provide the money to pay for bills and rent. Losing friends will have less impact on the person who was affected. I would choose to tell the teacher or administrator to prevent the teacher from getting blamed.
I would tell that the students were playing with his computer because I’m not going to just stay quiet because a student said so? The student who wrote the note has no power over what I choose to do or anything so i’m going to tell Ms. Rivera that those group of students were messing with the computer. I get it, it was a joke, but that makes no sense to just mess with a teachers computer, you could get in a bunch of trouble for stuff like that. I wouldn’t keep this a secret, I would tell the teacher what I saw because I don’t lie at all, I always tell the truth no matter the situation you always need to tell the truth, always. When I get pulled out the classroom, I would tell the teacher what I saw and what I heard, I would show them the note and everything! Because it’s wrong to not tell the truth in this situation.
